How often do I not? If I’m awake, I get anxious if it’s been too long since I looked at Facebook.

The last one I finished was Orson Scott Card’s Folk of the Fringe. It’s a collection of short stories about Mormons and associated people who survive a limited nuclear exchange that leads to the collapse of the United States. I really liked some of the stories but liked others less.
But right now I’m in the middle of a fascinating book, Steven Pinker’s The Better Angels of Our Nature, about the historical decline of all kinds of violence. So far my favorite bit is the theory that the invention of the printing press and the rise of literacy led people to be less tolerant of violence in everyday life because they got in the habit of imagining one another’s experience in ways they hadn’t before.

As late as I can get away with. Midnight to 1am is typical.
