I’m not a convert. I’m not even from anywhere other than Utah, so I can’t bring exciting cultural or religious novelties to the table. But I’d happily light a candle for each person in my life who’s left the church. 🙁
I missed it! This is the first I’ve read the post from last July too. I definitely like the concept. I usually celebrate my rebirthday which is like my personal convert’s day. I usually sing “happy re-birthday to me.” I’d love to see this idea take off, especially in Utah. Though, its just as easily celebrated on Pioneer Day with the usual cliche that a new convert is a pioneer in his/her family. That would get some bell bottoms mixed into the long skirts as well.
