Welcome to the new, and maybe even improved, version of ZD. We’re still looking, however, for a plugin that takes the energy you put into blogging and uses it to complete other tasks, such as writing papers and washing the dishes.

nice redesign!
Nooooooo! The old picture was the coolest blog header in the ‘nacle.
Come on Jacob. The old template was being used by several different blogs. At least this one is more unique.
I like it just fine, ZDers.
Thanks, Dallas and Geoff. And lol, Jacob; I have to agree that the old one did have a gorgeous header. But as Geoff mentioned, that theme was rather widely used. This one is also a pre-designed theme (my CSS skills aren’t really up to making them from scratch), but it’s perhaps a bit less common (for the moment, anyway). And I’ve tweaked it a bit–so things like the rotating photo in the middle should hopefully keep our blog looking at least kind of unique.
The new theme does look good. And the rotating picture is pretty cool. I concede.
Lynnette, I am appalled! How could you not know this? I thought it was quite clear that “CSS” referred to “Celestial (Marriage) Same Sex” so all you need to do to make it work is start a big argument about gay marriage. π
No, seriously, thanks for all your hard work on this. I think it looks great!
This looks great, ZDs!
When I first saw the change, I had a moment of anxiety because I thought maybe you had taken away the Random Quote feature. I think you guys are unique in the ‘nacle, and the quotes are all winners. Since it’s still here, I’m happy. Also, the rotating picture in the header is tres chic.
Jacob, I’m ever so pleased that you were persuaded to see the light at last. π
Ziff, nice attempt to make this rather mundane thread more exciting by bringing up SSM. Do you remember the idea (maybe Kiskilili’s?) of putting hot pepper icons next to potentially controversial posts as warnings, like they do in restaurant menus? Maybe we should look into that.
Thanks, Kaimi!
Mark, I’m glad we’ve kept you happy. The random quote generator is in fact one of my favorite parts of the blog as well, so it’s in little danger of disappearing.
Lynnette,
This is weird — I just noticed that I’m getting the old look in IE, but the new look in Firefox. I’m not sure why, either.
(Is anyone else having this issue?)
And I agree with Mark — the random quote generator rocks. π
Kaimi, that is odd–I just looked at the site in both IE 6 and IE 7, and I got the new format in both. Though I noticed that the right sidebar is falling in IE 6–I’ll try to fix that.
