I’ve been posting goofy Mormon valentines for a decade now. Here are links to previous posts: Correlated Cards for Valentine’s Day, Happy Valentine’s Day from the Trump Administration, More Correlated Cards for Valentine’s Day, The Most Correct of Any Valentines on Earth, Old Testament Valentines, New Testament Valentines, Even More Correlated Cards for Valentine’s Day, Yet More Correlated Cards for Valentine’s Day, Valentines from Some Nineteenth Century Mormons.
Just in case anyone is following these from year to year, I want to let you know I’m planning to pause the series and maybe bring it back in a few years and do it less often in the future. The problem I’m facing is that I need lines from GAs that are widely known and quickly recognizable to riff on. The more often you have to look up the source yourself to get the joke, the less funny the valentines are. And GAs just aren’t saying things often enough that enter the culture sufficiently for me to riff on them easily and recognizably. The ones based on scriptures and Church history were a nice detour for a few years, but I found few stories and lines that I could easily work from. Additionally, some scripture and especially Church history stories involve coercion and riffing on them could easily move into being creepy, which I want to avoid.
Try “If have me you will”.
Oh, ha! That’s a great edit, Last Lemming.
I’m shocked, I tell you, shocked, to learn that nobody has said anything truly memorable over the pulpit for a long time. If you’re looking for something everyone would understand, I’d go with a picture of Nelson with the caption: “I’ll announce a temple next to your house if you’ll be my valentine.”
I don’t even like Valentine’s Day but I love these so much ?
