Lynette,

I really liked the post. Great New Year's fodder. I wonder if I can successfully put this idea into my parenting. Yelling seems so much easier at times, although rarely effective.

Thanks.

Lynnette,
Like everyone else, I really enjoyed your post. My favorite part was your quote about sin and grace. I have never thought about grace being stronger than sin. I'm glad it is.

I can't imagine Ziff ever being an obnoxious brother, but that's probably because I've only met him as an adult. . .

Thanks for the kind words, all; I'm glad the post resonated with you. I really like Idahospud's observation about "re-solve," and b's about discipline and discipleship. And Kevin, that's cool if you have a somewhat more optimistic view of human nature; people like you are probably needed to balance out people like me!

Ziff, I would be lying if I said I'd never once sat in church and contemplated the obnoxiousness of my brother. Especially since he was spending sacrament meeting doing things like re-writing "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel" into the Communist Party Song. :P

One more. It is long, with another long one linked in it (the one that generated it), but it is about the same theme as this post. Again, if you are interested:

Lynette, I couldn't agree more with this post. It is the same idea that drove my only New Year's Resolution last year and the tweaking of that same resolution this year. If you are interested:

Great sentiments! I've thought along these lines as a parent when one of my children misbehaves. Do I focus on their negative behavior or how they could be better? The former focuses on punishment (make her pay for her crimes!), whereas the later focuses on discipline (as in, helping her become a disciple). I hope it's clear that I find far more value in discipline than in punishment.
